Michael Jordan may have been a Chicago Bull for the majority of his professional basketball career, but let’s not forget that he was born in Brooklyn, New York.

We don’t think Mike ever forgot, because for as long as we can remember, he’s released special colorways of his signature sneakers to compliment the blue and orange that make up most New York athletic jerseys.

While he was playing, only the New York Air Jordan 10 was released specifically for the city, although since his retirement, the team at Brand Jordan has kept paying homage to MJ’s birthplace with different silhouettes of Air Jordans colored with the Knick fan in mind.

Most recently, pictures of the upcoming Air Jordan VIII in Black/Royal/Orange surfaced and although they are not being called a “Knicks” colorway just yet, we would not be surprised if that changed once they hit the retail floor. As a matter of fact, even if they aren’t officially called that, we know the sneaker collectors will call them anyway.
