Former America’s Next Top Model contestant Isis King is breaking all types of barriers and proving that anything is possible when you remain persistent.
After being the first transgender contestant on ANTM, King has now landed a gig as one of the faces of American Apparel’s latest ad campaign, making her the first transgendered model to appear in any of the company’s print ads.
For their new line of tees, American Apparel teamed up with GLAAD for LGBT Pride Month, and created a series of shirts featuring slogans that will hopefully build more support and acceptance of the LGBT community. Fifteen percent of all proceeds from the sales of the shirts will go towards GLAAD.
“American Apparel is showing bold leadership by being among just a few companies to include transgender people in its national ads,” said GLAAD President Herndon Graddick.
We’re glad that American Apparel is stepping up and actively showing their support for equal rights and wish that more U.S. companies would follow suit.
