With the way that hip-hop is evolving now, sometimes it's easy to forget the music genre's important roots.

Not knowing where you come from is the easiest way to forget where you are going. So thankfully, Brooklyn artist James Shields has come up with a fun way for the kids to learn about their rich history in hip-hop.

From connect the dots that reveal a picture of Grand Master Flash, to a black canvas in the shape of a subway train for kids to do their own "graffiti," the Hip-Hop Coloring Book is fun for kids of all ages.

In an interview with the Daily News Shields stated:

"It’s a mix of classic activities and creative exercises, all intertwined with the history of hip hop. People forget that hip hop as a culture is not just about money and ego. It’s an art form that can provide kids with self esteem and identity. It promotes individuality."

You can purchase the book now from James' CreativeShields website and you can take a look at a few of the Hip-Hop Coloring Book's images in the gallery above!
