Kanye West has donned better outfits than you could even think of, but unfortunately he’s also thought up some…questionable fits.
Aside from snapping on the paps here and there, Mr. West hasn’t been one to give a sit-down interview in quite some time, and honestly he really hasn’t had the need. When he rapped “don’t do no press and I get the most press,” Yeezy wasn’t kidding.
But the daddy-to-be finally broke his silence with what will go down as one of the most epic Kanye West interviews to date, wherein the rapper spoke about every single thing we wanted to know, from his relationship to his expectations for fatherhood, and of course, his music. But then Kanye dropped what may have been the gem of the interview for fashion lovers; he spoke about what he thought of his own fashion during his Louis Vuitton Don days.
After revealing that he has made strides to become “a minimalist in a rapper’s body,” Kanye reflected on his own style evolution:
Kanye: I’m just trying to cut away all the — you know, it’s even like what we talk about with clothing and fashion, that sometimes all that gets in the way. You even see the way I dress now is so super straight.
Does it take you less time to get dressed now than it did five years ago?
Hell, yeah.
You look at your outfits from five or seven years ago, and it’s like —
Yeah, kill self. That’s all I have to say. Kill self.
Hmm…Well, we would have to beg to differ.
While Kanye West was quite the over the top dresser in the past, he still hasn’t quite let go of all his old ways and fully embraced minimalism. Need some proof? We’ve rounded up some Yeezy outfits circa 2012-2013 that may have the rapper saying “kill self” in five or seven years from now. But it’s all about evolution, right? Right.

This sideboob, yeah, this sideboob, happened with that t-shirt tan, and we’re almost sure that Kanye is not sorry about it…yet.
Take today’s ’90s grunge trend into account, and this look is suitable for the moment, but in 5-7 years, toddler KimYe is going to be like, “OMG Dad, what were you wearing!”
Cool vest. Bad idea.
EVERYTHING that has to involve this floor-length coat has been a “kill self” ‘Ye moment (see below).
Like, every moment. Also, we’re pretty sure Mason has the same moccasins as Uncle ‘Ye.
Seriously, this coat does no good. Purge it.
I personally think the mask is a fun fit, but will it stand the 5-7 year limit? Most likely not, but for now, pass go and collect $200, Yeezy.
Ah, the infamous leather kilt…We already know Yeezy regrets this one. How? Because he asked all skirt pics of him performing at the 12-12-12 benefit be removed from the photo wires.
Velvet blazer? If you’re Mr. Rogers…or Kanye West.
