Nike and LeBron James know a thing or two about popping bottles.

There are very few things that rival how great it feels to win an NBA Championship, and Nike is celebrating for Bron Bron once again with a special edition version of his LeBron X.

The new Nike LeBron X recently made headlines for being the most expensive shoes on the market. Coming in at a base price of $200 without a Nike Tech kit, the shoe may be the most technologically savvy on the market. But who cares about all of that when the shoe itself looks as good as the latest colorway?

We use the word “colorway” a bit loosely in the case of the new LeBron X. More of a material than an actual color, the upper of the special edition Championship LeBron X is made completely out of cork.

The choice of material is based around the cork of a champagne bottle that is ceremoniously popped when something like a championship is won.

Popping champagne bottles on June 21 following his first championship was a tribute to an unprecedented year for LeBron James. Three-time league MVP, Finals MVP – these individual awards pale in comparison to the honor James and his teammates accomplished.

World Champs. A distinction that stands the test of time like a fine champagne, and inspiration for a genuine cork version of James’ tenth signature shoe. Inspired by the LEBRON X performance shoe, Nike Sportswear brings a sophisticated edge to the shoe with premium materials and fabrication intended for off-court use.
