Mainstream Mickey: Everyone's Favorite Mouse Sells Everything (PHOTOS)

Posted June 13, 2011 by Jason Brooks for Global Grind Staff

For many adults, Mickey Mouse is one of the most memorable cartoon characters from their childhood.

Mickey first appeared in 1928 in Walt Disney's Steamboat Willie cartoon and, several decades later, has captured the hearts of children everywhere.

As the face of the Walt Disney Corporation, Mickey is recognizable all over the world, perhaps that is why so many companies have used his image to sell everything from artwork to sneakers.

For example: Mickey's ears have been worn by Rihanna and his hands have been re-interpreted into gang and rap crew signs like the Wu's W.

From skateboard brands like Supreme, to more luxury brands like Commes des Garcon, Mickey's likeness has been used for it all. We have to say that some of the items are pretty cool.

Call it nostalgia or just call it Mickey fever, dont sleep on Mickey's inclusion in popular culture!
