At last night’s presentation on the roof of the Setai Spa in Lower Manhattan, just minutes away from Ground Zero, the stoically funny Noel, while riding a Segway, wondered where Batman went after the twin lights of 9/11 Memorial went away. Noel also announced he wanted the white strip tulle dress that Samantha Sleeper sent out to match the new, customizable headphones his company will produce in hopes bringing headphones to fashion.There was polite but uncomfortable laughter but the audience got the picture: Fashion needs humor and so does suffering.
Discounting the Lady Gaga Monster Beat and Beats By Dre, this was Monster’s first foray into Fashion (with a capital F) officially, and Noel admitted as much when GlobalGrind asked him his thoughts behind Monster’s artist team up. “We’ve never done this before,” Noel said, explaining that he hopes the collaboration between artists and Monster will continue. “I’m very excited by what we’re doing…headphones need to be fashionable!”
Dubbed the Inspiration collection, models paired colorful and sheer spring dresses, by Sleeper, Zoe Twitt and Melissa Bolin, with headphones whose headbands are inter-changeable; which means that you can match your headphones (or not) with you outfit head-to-toe. Selections include studs, denim, leather or blank canvas, allowing you to customize your look.
Alongside the collection, in display cases, were new headphones inspired and made by Earth Wind & Fire, Santana, and Miles Davis. There was even water-proof ear buds for gym conscious stylenistas.
