The Oscar de la Renta boutique on Madison Avenue in New York is the country’s most expensive shop according to Bundle, an online money magazine site.

“To come up with our list of the most expensive shops in America, we looked at proprietary data provided to us by Citi, and looked at average receipt amounts based on millions of transactions done in clothing stores across the U.S from April 2010 to May 2011,” the site reported. “We filtered out places like wholesalers, manufacturers and big department stores, and then ranked the most expensive shops by average receipt sizes.”
The data was packaged in a nice infographic, above, which may be read in either direction.
De La Renta’s average receipt totaled $3,217, topping Armani, Loro Piana, Akris, Maxfield, Chanel and Alexander McQueen! The total numbers of store surveyed was 25.
