All day, all week we scroll the interwebs reporting on what celebrities are wearing when they hit the red carpet at high profile events. For the most part, we can always count on the leading ladies of the style world to come correct with well-polished looks straight from the runways of the season’s most coveted shows.

And every once in a while, we can expect the big hitters to don looks that have yet to hit the light of the runway (flashback to Rihanna wearing items from Miu Miu for the Victoria’s Secret fashion show red carpet) but for the most part, with the exceptions of a few isolated instances, red carpet looks that are picked apart the morning after aren’t really a true expression of that celebrity’s free spirit…

Music festival style is though.

We’ve seen celebs getting bashed on style sites for indulging in a little flower power fun that comes with dressing for music festivals like Coachella. Bella Thorne, Vanessa Hudgens and Katy Perry are just some of the otherwise well-dressed ladies who primp up pretty well for red carpets and just happen to enjoy letting loose for one (or maybe even two) Coachella weekends a year. How can we be mad at that?

While some may want to turn their noses up at the flowers, wind blown fabrics and combat boots that come with the desert styling, we’re here to celebrate a display of creativity, because when else are you going to put that peace symbol necklace you bought for Halloween to use?

Take a look at 5.5 reasons we love festival style below.

You get to wear all the items you bought and swear you would one day wear…all at the same damn time.

Seriously, this is probably the only time you’ll be allowed to get a pass for pairing your cowboy boots with a skirt you once bought for Easter Sunday, who wouldn’t love to take that opportunity? Alessandra sure snatched up the chance.

Everyone is showing off their “fresh face”

Coachella isn’t the time to pile on makeup that will melt down in the desert heat, so seeing celebrities donning their festival fare is also a chance to see them with a little less hair/makeup primping…see, they’re human too!

You can accessorize to your little heart’s content.

Hats, sunglasses, bangles, belts and boots? Bring it the hell on! It’s Coachella, dammit and packing light means wearing everything you want and learning to be versatile…and that leads us to our next point…

You don’t have to trot around in uncomfortable shoes.

Heels are cute, but NEVER EVER comfy, like ever. Most music festival-goers are in sneakers, boots, or if you are feeling free like flower child Vanessa Hudgens, in nothing but anklets.

You can try cool hairstyles.

We would actually just like to say, you can wear flowers in your m*therf*cking hair! And suddenly you become the senorita with the flowers in her hair at the fair, and what girly girl doesn’t love that? Bella Thorne had the right idea.

You don’t even have to wear pants if you don’t want to!

OK, just kidding, please wear bottoms unless you’re Ke$ha…If you are in fact Ke$ha, then by all means, continue to rock out.

All in all, we love that festival style gives us a break from the same ol’ mundane red carpet looks styled to perfection. There is nothing wrong with letting loose every once in a while; fashion is about fun, freedom and expression.
