When it comes to similarities with the pop diva, Rihanna, Jamaican born and bred Nell Robinson has a few. An exotic island allure, a very sexy accent and to top it all off, a seriously “wicked” body. But the beauty is no pop diva, and she is more than just a sexy swimsuit model, she’s a stunner with a banging swimwear line all her own.
When Nell dreamt up the concept of her swimwear collection, Bang! Swimwear, the beauty of course dreamed of having great levels of success, but she also had a personal goal: to get Rihanna in one of her designs.
Last time we spoke with the model/designer she expressed her love for RiRi:
Is there any one celebrity you would like to see in a piece from your line?
Yes and it would be Rihanna. I would love her to wear one of my pieces. I feel like it’s her style, really…a lot of very sexy, cool, edgy pieces, some of them have studs and rips. I think Rihanna for sure would be the main celeb I’d want to feature it.
Turns out, it really was Rihanna’s style.
This morning, the songstress took to Instagram to show off her bikini body once again, and Rihanna was rocking none other than one of Nell’s Bang Swimwear designs.
We caught up with Nell in her height of RiRi glee, where she dished about the design behind the suit and how Rihanna got her hands on it. Check it out!
My business partner Ann Marie Clarke and I went to her concert in Twickenham recently. We were able to get backstage and hand a box with 10 swimsuits to her manager. This has been our dream ever since we started brainstorming about the brand.
The bikini Rihanna is wearing is called Electric Guitar and I’m sure you can see why. It has tiny red guitars as an all over print. (I actually drew those guitars myself, then had them printed onto a CAD and eventually onto the yellow fabric.) The bikini costs £80 and is available for purchase on our website www.bangswimwear.com
She then goes on to explain her reaction to seeing her career dreams come to fruition, saying:
I woke up this morning to images all over the social media sites from a ‘selfie’ that Rihanna posted on Instagram. I am ecstatic; I still cannot believe that she chose to wear one of my bikinis, it’s surreal. Our collection was inspired by Rock & Roll and suits Rihanna’s image, the bikini fits her style and body perfectly. I couldn’t be more pleased.
