Why Ask "Y": Saint Laurent Releases New Packaging & Logo (DETAILS)

Posted July 23, 2012 by Jason Brooks for Global Grind Staff

Under the creative direction of Hedi Slimane, Yves Saint Laurent decided to drop the Yves from their name and logo.

Most people who are familiar with the French fashion house were upset with the change, after all, the brand was founded by Yves Saint Laurent and now that he's no longer alive it seemed wrong to take his first name out of the brand.

Saint Laurent Rive Gauche, as the brand was originally called, is much more closely related to the new name, Saint Laurent Paris - even though it feels completely new.

Although it obviously is not as appeasing to the eye as the YSL logo, we're sure fans of the brand won't mind the logo change as long as the clothing aesthetic stays the same.
