Seth Meyers knows how to tell a good joke.

Last night as he hosted the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards, the joke was definitely at the expense of Marc Jacobs.

Although it was very light-hearted, Seth changed into the lace shirt-dress that caused a stir when Marc Jacobs wore it to the Met Gala earlier this year.

The shirt-dress, by Comme des Garcons, was actually made for men, but should probably be accentuated with a nice pair of jeans. Instead Marc wore it with just a pair of white boxers and pilgrim shoes from his Fall 2012 runway show.

Seth made his way to the podium wearing the same outfit (with the exception of the shoes) that Marc wore to the Gala and joked:

“This has great ventilation…My nipples have never been so freezing.”

He went on to say:

“That is a long way to go to prove you’re wearing a clean pair of underwear…Must be so nice heading to the Met having no fear that someone is wearing the same outfit as you. Hey guys, who wore it better: Marc Jacobs, or the window at an Italian funeral home?”

“You know what’s fun — picturing Marc Jacobs wearing that outfit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on any other day. Would they even let him in? ‘Sorry sir, but this is a museum. I understand that you bought a ticket, but there are like, field trips going on.’”

Let’s be honest, you can’t show up to the Met Gala in a shirt-dress and not expect a joke or two to be made at your expense.
