The countdown is on to the industry's most fashion forward event!
The Costume Institute Met Gala red carpet kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and our favorite fashion designers and hip-pop figures are already suiting up, and exhaling at the thought of their month long fit-into-gala-dress fast almost being over.
This year, the Met gala's red carpet is getting a hip-pop twist, with some of GlobalGrind's favorite celebs hitting the red carpet on the arms of the biggest designers in the game.
Last year, the Met Gala saw some impressive pairings like Stella McCartney and Rihanna, and J.Mendel and Taylor Swift. Beyonce, Brooklyn Decker, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Hudson, Lea Michele and Sarah Jessica Parker also attended he A-list event.
From Kate Upton to "212" rapper Azealia Banks, check out the guide below to see who is dating who for tonight's Gala Benefit and opening of the Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada’s Impossible Conversations at Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute.
Alexander Wang and Azealia Banks
The fashion designer has been showing a keen interest in hip-hop, and provided some creative direction to A$AP Rocky, so it comes as no surprise that he will be toting rapper it-girl of the moment Azealia Banks to the Met.
Erdem Moralioglu with Arizona Muse
Erdem Moralioğlu, more commonly known as Erdem, is the Canadian designer who will be coupled up with Arizona Muse tonight at the Met. Arizona was recently honored with the title of the model featured on the most editorial pages of Vogue.
Balmain's Olivier Rousteing with Joan Smalls
He's only been at the helm of Balmain for close to a year, but the 26-year-old has made some major changes. He plans on taking our favorite model of the moment, Joan Smalls, as his date to the Met. Oliver speaks highly of his date saying: "I'm really, really proud to be with her. I'm the happiest person in the world."
Joseph Altuzarra with Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey is heading to the Met as the date of designer Joseph Altuzarra and we can guarantee she isn't going to be wearing "Blue Jeans."
One date just isn't enough for designer Michael Kors. With nearly every woman owning a piece of his collection, he needs to bring a date that represents each type, so naturally he needs not one, nor two, but four dates. The designer plans on bringing Kate Upton, Liu Wen, Hilary Swank, and Jessica Alba. The best thing about this is that once invited, 19-year-old Kate Upton decided to foot the bill for her own $25,000 ticket.
Fashion lovers all across the globe can watch a live stream of the event’s Red Carpet, hosted by Vogue editor William Norwich and model Elettra Weidemann for the first time ever this year, but be sure to check back to GlobalGrind's style page tonight to see who wore whom!
