Could Tim Tebow be football’s Sunday savior?

GQ seems to think so. The New York Jets quarterback is on the cover of their highly anticipated September issue, along with rival quarterback Cam Newton from the Carolina Panthers. However the picture causing controversy isn’t the cover, but the shirtless one of Tebow inside the men’s fashion mag.

Tebow hits us all with the double whammy by posing shirtless … as Jesus. With his arms stretched out and legs together, much like Jesus on the cross, Tim Tebow may be getting heat from people who view this image as blasphemous.

To be honest, we can’t confirm that Tebow meant for it to look like that, however with all the highly publicized emphasis that Tebow puts on his Christianity, you can see why someone would interpret the pose in that way.

Tim actually may just be football’s savior. In regards to playing with the Jets, Tebow said:

“I think if they’re a Jets fan, hopefully they’ll be rooting for me. I’ll do whatever I can to help this team win football games. I’ll give my heart and soul whenever I step on that field and even when I’m on the sidelines. And at the end of the day, that’s really all you can ask of someone.”

This is true Tim, however rumor has it that you have a direct line to God, so Jets fans may want just a little bit more than you heart and soul, they want a guarantee!

Say your prayers for now Jets fans, but until the season officially kicks off, you can take a look at Tim’s controversial picture from the September issue of GQ in the gallery above.
