Awards season is the one of the very few times a year a fashionista can be as glamorous as they want to be! The coined term "movie star glamour" was made for these red carpet moments that feature flawless hair, skin and of course, dresses.
Last night kicked off the 85th Annual Academy Awards, and with one of the most anticipated award shows of the season came some of the most anticipated style selections. If you're winning big, we all expect you to dress the part! And last night some of Hollywood’s sassiest,- and the First Lady - delivered and served up memorable looks.
Of course, like at any other red carpet of this magnitude, there were the standout trends of the night. The two trends that were ruling were pastel colors on young Hollywood starlets like Kristen Stewart and best actress winner Jennifer Lawrence, and embellished gowns on carpet vets like Halle Berry.
Check out some of the ladies rocking last night’s trends below.
Halle Berry set the pace for this trend when she showed up and dropped jaws in this stunning long sleeved Versace gown, but Naeem Khan was the man with the plan as he dressed not one, but two women in his beautiful beaded gowns. Both Michelle Obama and Stacey Keibler opted to wear the Indian-born American designer’s digs.
It seemed like young Hollywood was trying to keep things a little more spring-like and fresh in light colored pastels when it came to their gown selections. The three it-girls of the year, Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart, all opted to keep things simple when it came to makeup, but we would be lying if we said we weren't hoping for a little punch of color with a fun lip, or even maybe a little bright manicure. This is a trend that we like, but don't love, as these style stars could look a little washed out if the look went wrong.
What was your favorite trend from the night? We’re going to have to go with the embellished beauties for the win!
