While Vanessa is currently on tour promoting Spring Breakers, her new movie with best gal pals Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson, she is also gearing up to fall into a new role that she’s dreamed of since her Disney days: a prostitute. Vanessa signed on to star alongside Nicolas Cage, who plays an Alaska State Trooper that partners with a young woman who escaped the clutches of serial killer Robert Hansen to bring the murderer to justice.

Vanessa may be taking her career to dark places, but she won’t be forgetting her Disney past.

Check out some excerpts from her interview below.

On getting her start with Disney: “In 10,000 hours, they say you can master anything. 10,000 hours in Disneyland and you’re the queen of Disney.”

On moving away from Disney and being cast in Spring Breakers: “It’s always been hard for actors to cross that bridge but honestly, you have to hold out and do what you think is right for yourself. But I also think it is about finding someone who truly believes in you. Harmony took a really big jump in hiring me and [co-stars] Selena [Gomez] and [ABC Family actress] Ashley [Benson].”

On Spring Breakers co-star James Franco: “I still don’t know him. I have no idea who James Franco is. I know who Alien is. He’s that into method acting. He comes on set as his character. In between scenes, he is still his character. When I first saw him, I was speechless because he just completely transformed himself. The way he talked, with that accent… Everything he does is so organic.”

On her upcoming thriller Frozen Ground: “Ever since I was young, I wanted to play really heavy and intense roles and really push myself in a dramatic direction. So I was like, ‘A prostitute! I can play a prostitute! This is going to be exciting.’”
