Women love Yigal Azrouël.
His ultra modern take on your average day-to-day garments has solidified his spot as one of today's most sought after designers, and we're pretty sure that some of you may have never even heard of him. Still, he's designing everything just for you, and he's even begun to venture into the world of menswear, where his leather jackets and oversized sweatshirts and tees reign supreme.
But don't take the ease of the finished product to mean that Yigal is not hard at work trying to come up with the most new and innovative ways to present everyday garments, his workspace tells the story of something much different.
From the table where Yigal says everything starts, to the models and dressforms where the clothing gets the final fitting, Yigal uses up every inch of his studio with samples, fabrics, and mannequins and a lot of the final product.
When describing how he designed his studio, located in New York's Fashion District, Yigal says:
"It's like my home. I like to feel comfortable. I usually have my pieces everywhere but you don't see it right now because we just finished the season, so we're redoing everything. For me, I don't like too much stuff. I like to keep it clean because I get very claustrophobic otherwise. Again, I like to start from scratch. The easiest way to describe it is: when I work on a collection, it's like a sculpture. When you start a sculpture, you don't really know where you're going. I find some great pieces in the flea markets, I love the color combination and the textures and the wood. It's very me, it's my home."
We're sure he probably spends just as much time here as he does at home, so it's a good thing that he loves where he works as much as we love looking at it.
