In the wake of a slew of shootings over material items, a 16-year-old teen was shot and killed because he refused to give up his winter parka jacket in New York's Lower East Side.

It's only the third day of the New Year and three New York City police officers were shot by gunmen in two separate incidents, just minutes apart.

Four people were found dead this morning in a Colorado house in an apparent murder-suicide, a Weld County sheriff's spokesman told CNN. The dead, two men and two women, are all believed to be related.
