Nick Young is obviously still taken aback by D’Angelo Russell’s disloyalty, but thankfully, he’s handling the situation maturely. After going into overtime against the Miami Heat, who the L.A. Lakers beat 102-100, Nick sat for a follow-up press conference and addressed the leaked video that suggests he cheated on fiancée Iggy Azalea.

Nick had this to say:

“I don’t want to get in to my personal life right now. I think it’s best if me and D’Angelo handle the situation we have in a private manner outside the media.”

Listen to his full statement in the video above.

D’Angelo Russell has found himself in quite a bit of hot water.

Last week, he recorded a private conversation with Nick Young regarding some of Nick’s “extracurricular activities.” The recording was somehow posted on the internet, leading to debates on social media regarding whether the Lakers player broke the ultimate bro code. D’Angelo took the time to publicly apologize to Nick:

“I reached out to [Young], let him know my apologies,” Russell said. “I don’t know if they were accepted. I wouldn’t blame him.”

When the rookie was asked about how this affected the locker room, he said:

If I’ve lost anyone’s trust, I’m going to work my tail off to get it back,” Russell said. “It’s something you need [to be] a winning team.”

It just seems like more bad news for an already terrible Laker season. The Lakers are currently 15-59, with D’Angelo averaging 13.1 points, 3.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds over 27.5 minutes in 72 games this season. Coach Byron Scott believes D’Angelo is entrenched as part of the team so, outside of a few “freeze outs” from his teammates, D’Angelo’s place as a Laker is likely secure.

Whether his teammates will trust him in the future, however, is anyone’s guess.
