The album featured rock influences from classic bands like Pink Floyd, the Pixies, and Nirvana

Despite Cudi’s label doubting his ability to sell a rock-inspired album, Cudi’s WZRD album came in at number three on the Billboard music charts with more than 70K units sold.

Cudi took the time out to speak with MTV about WZRD album haters, label doubts, and record sales.

“It’s not Man On The Moon numbers, but, shit man, it’s more than we thought. To debut at number three on the charts, that’s dope, that’s some Man on the Moon shit. I debuted number three last album and number four on the first album, so, you know, it’s dope.”

We’re glad Cudi is cool with his album sales. Fans have been known to not be responsive to artists deviating from their usual genres, but Cudi’s ragers seem to be a really loyal fan base.
