In observance of the death of LRG’s co-founder and creative director Jonas Bevaqua, who died in his sleep in Los Angeles yesterday, and whose cause of death is still unknown, we thought we’d take a look back at some of the successful streetwear brand’s past print advertisements. The ads feature some of today’s most recognizable musicians and artists.

LRG’s advertisement and creative direction was akin, in some aspect, to Commes des Garcons, the innovative Japanese brand that can sell you a shirt made from air without thinking twice.

Some were in your face regular, while others where conceptual like the one above called “Resolutionary” after the evolution of man.

All contained an element of surprise and thought: a famous or an about-to-be famous rapper in a shirt or sweater in front of a solid background, but the background looks like its made from ball point drawings, for example. What’s also interesting about the ads is the fact that there was an attempt at movement where the subject/seller of the ad’s body was semi-still, a nod of sorts to the brand’s foundation of roots/movement in urban culture.

After the break, see what we mean!
