After 15 years of kicking knowledge Nas is finally looking to get his GED. Saddled with $50,000 in monthly alimony payments, the King of Queens might be padding his resume for the job market but how just how helpful is an education to a rapper?

Here’s our list of MCs with degrees after reading this maybe Nas will reconsider his scholarly ambitions.

1. Stat Quo
Degree in Economics and International Business from the University of Florida

The fact that Stat has a business degree boggles the mind when one realizes that he’s been signed to super-producer Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records for the last few years and never released an album, which isn’t the most prudent of economical decisions.

2. Young MC
Degree in Economics from the University of Southern California

Unfortunately in 2010, the moniker ‘Young MC’ is a misnomer, but with his knowledge of the financial markets Marvin Young parlayed his hit 1989 single ‘Bust a Move’ money into um…nothing.

3. Paul Wall

Degree in Mass Communications from the University of Houston.

Getting your news from Paul Wall is akin to taking diction classes from OJ Da Juiceman. Paul did, however, have the ‘Innanet goin’ nuts’ during Houston’s regional hip-hop explosion a few years back.

4. Double-O and Naledge of Kidz in the Hall
Naledge Degree in Communications, Minor in Sociology
Double-O Degree in Systems Engineering (Also represented Belize in Track and Field in the 2004 Olympics)
Both graduated from Ivy League University of Pennsylvania.

The MC, Naledge, has a degree in Communications and the Producer, Double-O, has a Systems Engineering degree? That’s like the perfect set-up. Its almost like Rick James and Teena Marie if Teena had a degree in vocal training and Rick James had a degree in smoking crack and beating up broads.

5. J. Cole
Graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. John’s University with a degree in Communications.

A degree in communication may be helpful for a rapper but communicating with Jay-Z is more lucrative than four years in an NYC college class room. At least we know the Freshman Class president is smart.

6. David Banner
Degree in Business from Southern University

David Banner made his money creating crunk anthems for the southern clubs but he made it his business to bang on the system and piss off Al Sharpton and Oprah, which gets one more airtime than making music.
