The evening of April 8th couldn’t get here fast enough as it was the New Yorkers for Children’s Fool Fete, which is a fantastic spring dance gala started by a brilliant man named Nicholas Scoppetta. He and I share something very special; we were once both in the foster care system.

When I was placed in foster care, I was very young and didn’t have the best memories. I think that is the exact reason why he started the New Yorkers for Children organization. The program works with and manages over 16,000 children in foster care in NYC. They improve the lives of children and families who are served by the Administration for Children’s Services by providing the private resources needed to assist Children’s Services and to increase awareness of child welfare issues. They provide scholarships, mentoring, proper child/sibling management as well as life opportunity and packages so young people can continue their education.

So knowing all of this, I was counting down the days. Finally it was April 8th and I was being dressed by Akris and wearing amazing Canturi diamonds! My dress was so special because although it was completely sheer it was so unique and chic. I felt so sexy and golden. By the way, major thanks to Victoria Secret’s gel nipple petals! I sat at the Akris table, which was so much fun. I sat next to Elle magazine’s Joe Zee and we tweeted pics and laughed about the supermodel sandwich fellow blogger Lonneke Engel and I made of him. She made fun of me because I was certain to display my heavy sapphires and diamond Canturi bracelet in every photo. I always say a good model is always aware of what she’s selling.

After dinner, we heard a touching speech from last year’s $10,000 spirit award winner, Shantel Schloss, who is an amazing young woman continuing her education with the help of the award money. It reminded all the diamond clad socialites of the true reason we were all there. After a quick tear jerking speech it was time that DJ Sky Nellor (who is a beautiful woman by the way) played all the right beats. The dance floor was sooo much fun! It was nice to see people enjoying themselves. I too stepped onto the dance floor with fellow VS Angel and new mommy Karolina Kurkova, Michelle Buswell, Tiiu Kuik, and Hilary Rhoda! Those ladies know how to get down. I had to call it a night when Michelle’s 6 feet plus frame started dropping it like it’s hot! I’m way too old and I can’t compete with that anymore!

At the end of the night we raised $450,000 for the children of NYC!! Talk about giving back to your community! I am so honored to be on the board! Please visit www.newyorkersforchildren.org to learn more about great things were doing for the youth!
