This year belongs to Jennifer Hudson. The Academy Award-winning actress/singer/new mom released her new album “I Remember Me,” along with a new body ― courtesy of her recent stint as a Weight Watchers spokesmodel. While Hudson’s fans soak up the tracks off her recent release, they won’t have to wait too long for her next project.

J-Hud’s next piece of work will come in the form of film, with “Winnie” set to hit theaters before the end of the year. We caught up with the diva and discussed her new album, taking on the controversial role of Winnie Madikizela Mandela and her weight loss.

Which artist that we don’t know about yet, should we be listening to?

Jessie J ― The girl is young and can really sing. She is incredibly talented!

How is your life different since you lost the weight?

Discovering the power to be able to do what I set my mind to do. Feeling empowered.

In Essence Magazine you said, after playing Winnie Mandela, you were drained from the emotional roller coaster the role put you through. How hard was it for you to bounce back from those emotions?

It took me about four months to find Jennifer and I am still looking for her.

Have there been any letters or messages from your fans that have stuck out or really moved you over the years? If so, could you share?

One time a fan sent me a ring that said, “If God bring you to it, He will bring you through it.” That has always stuck with me.
