Now that Osama bin Laden is dead, it’s time for President Obama to refocus his efforts on finding Americans jobs. A productive job growth of 244,000 in the month of April was a good sign that the economy is getting better, but ask Black men over the age of 20 and it’s a different story.

The percentage of Black men with jobs has dropped to its lowest level since 1972. The percentage of Black males over 20 who are currently employed, dropped slightly to 56.9 percent. As for Black people across the entire spectrum, 51.5 percent, compared to 59.5 percent of whites, have a job. That’s the lowest level for Blacks since 1984.

These numbers are staggering to say the least and as President Obama heads out on his re-election campaign, his main priority should be getting young people back to work.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Black males have the highest unemployment rate of all ethnic groups, at 17 percent.

Accoding to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Black women are facing a 13.4 percent unemployment rate.
