It’s about time Cleveland had a faithful champion to call their own. Machine Gun Kelly’s hometown has much to celebrate today following the rapper’s signing to Bad Boy/Interscope Records.

The president of Bad Boy Harve Pierre is nothing less than boastful about the newest edition to their family, better known as MGK. “He speaks for a generation of kids who are just like him. Fans relate immediately to his lyrics, his flow and his energetic live performances,” Harve says of MGK.

Diddy, the CEO of Bad Boy, sees the Cleveland-rapper in an even larger light, referring to him as “a breath of fresh air.” This deal with Bad Boy/Interscope seemingly came under the condition that MGK be allowed to keep his creative space to do him. Machine Gun is quoted saying “We decided to partner with Bad Boy/Interscope because they understood our idea and the importance of keeping our integrity.”

GlobalGrind sat down with MGK earlier this year, and we are pretty sure that this signing to a major label in no way means that the rapper is taking it mainstream. Prideful of his EST 19XX movement, the anarchy-tatted emcee promises loyalty to his fans. “We represent the underdogs, the outcast, the uncool.  We are a true cult with a loud voice.”

This is the moment every “Laced Up” fan has been waiting for. MGK dropped hints of the signing on his Twitter page last night, saying “VERY excited for my fans tomorrow … you’ll see why when yall wake up!!!!

Congrats on becoming the newest member of Bad Boy, Machine Gun!
