Abercrombie & Fitch stocks have fallen after the brand dissed the Jersey Shore

If you have been keeping up with this season of the Jersey Shore and paying attention to the fashion choice by the cast, you may have noticed that Snookie has taken to wearing bows in her hair and the Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has amassed a massive collection of Abercrombie & Fitch sweatpants. So much so that it seems that the brand may be sponsoring our favorite reality TV Guido.

Eager to slow The Situation’s roll, Abercrombie & Fitch released an official statement yesterday saying that they do not want The Sitch’ wearing their clothes and have decided to pay him a “substantial amount” of money to not wear them!

We are deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image, a statement from Abercrombie read. We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans. We have therefore offered a substantial payment to Michael ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and the producers of MTV’s The Jersey Shore to have the character wear an alternate brand. We have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response.

FAIL.

The response was swift and rapid with the company’s stock plumetting nine percent today!

Honestly, we understand that the Jersey Shore has received a lot of backlash for their wild antics, but at the end of the day Abercrombie markets overly priced clothing to Middle America. If The Situation and the Jersey Shore gang are the ones who can afford the clothing then who does Abercrombie & Fitch think they are to restrict them? You can’t control who wears your clothing!

Last summer, Sorrentino told New York, “Abercrombie & Fitch, their most popular shirt, they told me, is ‘Fitchuation.’ I mean, where did they get that from? Obviously from myself.”

The clan obviously has a ridiculous fan base, so we don’t understand why Abercrombie & Fitch would shoot themselves in the foot.
