Mike Epps has been selected to host the BET Hip-Hop Awards for the third time. The actor, most recently known for his roles in The Hangover and Jumping the Broom, says he is definitely a hip-hop comedian and told GlobalGrind he would be keeping the show clean.

“I am going to have a lot of clean fun, straight clean fun. It’s got to be good fun. I can’t offend anyone, you know,” said Epps.

When asked about his outfit selection for the awards, Epps told GlobalGrind “I will be G’d up from the feet up. I am going to have on something spectacular.”

While Busta Rhymes, Meek Mills and Big K.R.I.T were in attendance, the name on everyone’s lips was Lil Wayne’s.

The Young Money pioneer was nominated for a record-breaking 18 BET hip-hop awards, including Lyricist of the Year and MVP of the Year.

Wayne is followed by Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa tied with nine nods each and Rick Ross with eight nods. It was a big night for Maybach Music, as Meek Mill announced his inclusion in the cypher segment of this year’s show.

Newcomer Big K.R.I.T was nominated for three categories, including Rookie of the Year.

“This is definitely a win for my state and it is definitely an inspiration for the people that I know around me. It really just shows them that it doesn’t matter where you’re from or what kind of music you make, you can actually succeed in your dreams,” K.R.I.T said.

The Mississipi Native told GlobalGrind how he would celebrate his nominations.

“Basically I am going to stay on the road. We still have a lot of work to do so I am not going to get to party as much, we got a lot of work to do. Me and my partners we will just go out, have some drinks and reflect on the past few years that we have been riding through to get to this point.”

In addition to his excitement for hosting the show, Epps is excited about the new talents like Meek Mills and Big K.R.I.T.

“I want to see all of the new artists. I am like their uncle, I love all their shit,” said Epps.

The 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards are scheduled to air Tuesday, October 11 at 8P/7c on BET.
