Although Marc Jacobs is no stranger to controversy, this time around we’re siding with him. 

His most recent advertisement for his Oh, Lola! perfume stars the lovely and demure Dakota Fanning, but it’s now been banned in the UK.

The British Advertising Standards Authority, which regularly cracks down on ads with models deemed overly sexy, skinny, or airbrushed, has banned the ads because Fanning appears childlike and sexy.

The Board received complaints about the suggestiveness of Dakota holding the perfume bottle, which is shaped like a blooming pink flower, between her legs.

In their statement, the ASA says:

We noted that the model was holding up the perfume bottle which rested in her lap between her legs and we considered that its position was sexually provocative. We understood the model was 17 years old but we considered she looked under the age of 16. We considered that the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize a child.

We honestly don’t think that the ad looks that bad or suggestive ,but that may just be why it’s only banned in the UK.
