Proof that everything gets more valuable after a celebrity dies?

The Disaya polka dot chiffon dress worn by the late Amy Winehouse on the 2006 cover of her Back to Black album was sold yesterday at London’s Kerry Taylor Auctions for 43,200 pounds, or the equivalent of $67,841. The lucky buyer? The Fundacion Museo De La Moda, a fashion museum in Chile, who beat out several bidders at auction.

All proceeds of the sale will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation to benefit disadvantaged or addicted youth.

Designer Disaya Sorakraikitikul, who studied at Central St. Martins in London, originally loaned the dress to Winehouse’s stylist Amy Winwood for the singer to wear on her album cover, archiving it when it was returned.

“I can’t put into words how grateful I am to Kerry and Disaya for their support and hard work,” Mitch Winehouse, father of the deceased chanteuse, told FashionWeekDaily. “We are just over the moon, and this is a wonderful start to the foundation. We are off to visit a homeless charity in Euston tomorrow and so the money will go to a good cause straight away.”

We couldn’t agree more! Rest in Peace Amy.
