Rachel Roy, Chloe Sevigny and a host of celebs attended a special screening of Madonna‘s film W.E. at the Cinema Society last night in NYC.

STORY: Madonna’s Got Butterflies In Venice!

The place was packed with a Who’s Who of independent cinema, including painter turned director Julian Schnabel and director of Precious Lee Daniels.

We wonder what their opinion of the Weinstein distributed film was, since the only folks who have seen it are those on the festival circuit and some critics who have panned the Detroit native’s attempt at film.

Starring Abbie Cornish, W.E. tells the story of two women separated by six decades. One of them is obsessed with the marriage of Wallace Simpson and King Edward the VIII.

The film marks Madonna’s first foray into directing, writing and producing a film. You can catch it in theaters February 2012.
