Diamonds were on everyone’s mind last night, but not the way you think.
The first annual Diamond Empowerment Fund GOOD Awards were held in NYC last night and some of Hollywood’s best and brightest were on hand to recognize four individuals who are working to improve education in Africa vis-a-vis the diamond industry.

The gorgeous Ivanka Trump, Ms. Rebecca Foerster, Ms. Varda Shine, Edward Hrabak, Fern Mallis and of course, Mr. Russell Simmons were all in attendance. Grammy-nominated R&B singer Melanie Fiona also delighted the crowd with a special performance.
The award ceremony was held at the Empire Hotel and created to raise awareness and educate the diamond and jewelry industry on the purpose behind the Diamond Empowerment Fund.
The Diamond Empowerment Fund is a non-profit international organization that raises money to support education initiatives to develop and empower economically disadvantaged people in African nations where diamonds are a natural resource.
