We’ve got crazy news out of the world of baseball, as MLB legend Lenny Dykstra has been sentenced to three years in California state prison for grand theft auto.

STORY: Making A Statement! Judge Bans Reckless Teen From Driving For Life

According to TMZ, the former New York Mets outfielder asked the judge to allow him to change his plea last week from “no contest” to “not guilty,” but the judge said no way.

Back in October of 2011, Dykstra entered a plea of “no contest” as part of a plea deal copping to three counts of felony grand theft auto and one count of submitting false statements to a financial institution while 21 other charges against him were dismissed.

Dykstra was accused of leasing luxury cars from an L.A. dealership with fraudulent paperwork. Drug charges were also filed in the case.

However due to prison overcrowding, Dykstra likely won’t serve a day in prison. He’ll begin serving his sentence in jail and probably be released long before the 3-year mark.
