Sanford police plan to release the 911 calls in the deadly shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

This announcement comes hours after Trayvon’s parents held a news conference this morning near Lake Eola in downtown Orlando where they told reporters how all of their trust in the Sanford Police Department has disappeared.

Tracy Martin, father of Trayvon, told reporters he felt “betrayed” by law enforcement investigating his son’s death because they have not arrested the shooter.

Martin said at the news conference-

“It’s a shame that he’s [Trayvon] not getting any justice. We’re not, as a family, getting any closure. I feel betrayed by the Sanford Police Department and there’s no way that I can still trust them in investigating this crime.”

Trayvon’s parents were joined by their attorneys, as well as two witnesses who support the family’s view that the killing wasn’t self defense.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Congresswoman Corrine Brown confirmed that she met with Sanford’s mayor and police chief on Friday. She is calling for a U.S. Department of Justice investigation.

At the press conference this morning, Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, addressed reporters with tears in her eyes saying-

“It’s been a nightmare,” Fulton said. “I don’t understand why this man has not been arrested.”

Benjamin Crump, an attorney for Travon’s family, said this morning that he may file a complaint against Sanford police for witness intimidation, tampering and obstruction of justice.

Crump told reporters-

“If the Sanford Police Department continues to engage in this unsavory fashion, we will assist with filing an official complaint with the Department of Justice for witness tampering, witness intimidation and obstruction of justice,”

Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer in the gated neighborhood, The Retreat at Twin Lakes, shot Trayvon dead while defending himself, he told Sanford police.

People from around the nation have signed a petition on Change.org to call for the prosecution of Zimmerman.

Zimmerman has moved out of his Sanford home because of death threats, according to his father, Robert Zimmerman.
