It’s about time! That was the hip-hop nation’s collective gasp when the lead single off of Kendrick Lamar’s new album hit early Monday. Like two gourmet chefs baking in a Cali smoke shop, Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre present “The Recipe.” The ingredients include a Scoop DeVille produced track, layered under a simple sample of the Twin Sister song, “Meet The Frownies.” Next, you add 32-platinum-bars from Lamar, a 16-bar hit from Dre and a mainstream hook without Drake or Chris Brown“They come for the woman, weed and weather” — at least that’s what the chorus of the song says. Shout out to southern Cali and anybody who has ever been.

Between promoting his new artist and working on new music T.I. has resurfaced in the mainstream stronger than ever. Tip realized sometimes you have to disappear so you can reappear for your fans to truly appreciate you. This week, he dropped a new anthem, “Love This Life,” for all the players out there with multiple friends, but one special lady. You know, the guys who get caught with their hand in the cookie jar, but then clean up the crumbs real quick. Remember how Kobe Bryant got his wife back…twice?  Listen to lyrics of this record and understand how real relationships recycle love.

With all the Jay-Z and Kanye West happenings around Watch The Throne we almost forgot Ye is working on the highly anticipated G.O.O.D. Music compilation. He leaked an appetizer called “Theraflu” on Wednesday but on Thursday we got the main course with the track “Mercy” hitting the airwaves. It features Big Sean, Pusha T and of course 2 Chainz. Super Beagle deserves a shout as well as his “Champion Sound!” vocal is chopped up and spread evenly over the entire song. This is just rich, arrogant or ignorant music depending on how you see it. But it’s hip-hop, and it’s must hear music that’s going to bang hard in a hood near you.

The singer Monica is one of the sexiest songbirds that R&B music has. Hearing her voice has always been refreshing like a cucumber and lemonade smoothie in the summer. With her latest album releasing next week she drops her new single “Take A Chance featuring Maybach Music Capo Wale. Super producer Rico Love teams up with Earl & E and delivers another R&B smash that should have Ms. Sexy back on the charts in no time. Monica’s album is called New Life, and it’s an appropriate title for this stage in her career.

If you haven’t heard of the freshly ‘rapped’ Cali spitter Casey Veggies here’s his latest track “Get That $.” Now vegetables are always better served fresh and Young Veggies flow is fresher then freshly cut grass from a Bay Area suburb (wink). Get That $ is just another dope record in Casey’s arsenal that will appear on his next EP, Customized Greatly Vol. 3. Producer Polyester really delivers on a solid track that helps Get That become one of the more stand out tracks on his new EP.

Enjoy…Until we read again…
