George Zimmerman appeared inside a Seminole County courtroom today for his first hearing/arraignment. But the judge moved the date for the formal arraignment to May 29th.
No bond has been set, but an agreement to seal court records by prosecutors and Zimmerman’s attorney was issued by the presiding judge.
Zimmerman faces charges of second degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
During the brief appearance, Zimmerman stood up straight and wore a gray prison jumpsuit. He spoke only to answer, “Yes sir,” after he was asked basic questions about the charge against him and his attorney.
Many thought Zimmerman was going to plead not guilty today and ask to be allowed to post bond and be released from custody, but that did not happen.
The judge said an arraignment would be held on May 29 before another judge.
