Lady Gaga was forced to cancel her sold-out June 3rd performance in Jakarta, Indonesia because of pressure from Islamic extremists who said her performance would “corrupt young people.”
Gaga might be known for her outlandish outfits and questionable lyrics, but it is ridiculous, in my opinion, to say that she could corrupt people with dance moves.
It’s silly that these extremists even threatened that they would prevent her from getting off the plane.

It is time to accept the world and get over these little problems you might have with it.
Similar instances have occurred in other parts of the world, not only involving celebrities.
Earlier this year in Jerusalem, several ads with scantily-clad women on them were placed in one of the most religious communities.
There was immediate uproar from the members of the community and some ads were even torn down and/or defaced.
I, an Orthodox Jew, am not necessarily disagreeing with how they felt but I disagree with how they dealt with it.
People need to learn how to walk away from things that they have no control over, like an inappropriate ad at a bus stop or an inappropriately dressed singer.
The world is setting a dangerous precedent that even a small group of extremists could swing a decision to cancel a concert with over 52,000 people who actually want to attend.
The scary thing is that nobody is willing to step up and go against these comments and are more willing to give in to the least bit of pressure they receive.
As one ticketholder said, the higher-ups are giving into the “troublemakers.”

The only way to stop this from happening in the future is to tune them out.
A good amount of Americans probably are not fond of Lady Gaga’s methods, but learn to accept it or turn a blind eye because they know the majority accepts it.
The extremists need to learn from this and only then will they understand how to accept views other than their own, making the world an all together better and more peaceful place to live in.
