Over the years, there have been rumors and reports that singer and actress Queen Latifah is gay.

Despite these accusations, the Queen has never actually come out and announced that she was interested in women.

To make things a little more confusing, Latifah performed at a gay pride festival in Southern California for the first time.

According to The Advocate, while on stage at the festival, she apparently referred to the audience as “her people” and asked the crowd, “Are you feeling all the unity?” These statements caused some people to think that she was announcing her homosexuality.

However, the actress told Entertainment Weekly

“That definitely wasn’t the case” and said “I’ve never dealt with the question of my personal life in public. It’s just not gonna happen.”

However, she did touch on her support for the LGBT community, telling EW:

“To me, doing a gay pride show is one of the most fun things. My first show that paid more than $10,000 was in a gay club on New Year’s Eve in San Francisco.” She added, “When people are going through hatred and bullying, the biggest thing to fight that is love… So that’s all I encouraged my audience to do that night: to share their light and share their love. Period.”

Out the closet or not, we love us some Queen Latifah!
