Some time in the last 10 years soda sizes went from small, medium and large to diabetes, death and kill yourself right now.

So the fact that there is a size limit soda ban law trying to get passed in New York City should be applauded. For those that don’t know, Mayor Bloomberg is obsessed with health. He’s removed cars from Times Square, wants New Yorkers to walk more than they already do, and now he’s forcing them to stop gulping down bucket-sized containers of sugary sodas.

This proposal by New York’s mayor prohibits any restaurant in the city from selling sugary drinks over 16 ounces. It focuses on high calorie drinks like colas, lemonade and punch. This ban would hit fast food eateries, movie theaters and food courts the hardest and I couldn’t be happier.

New Yorkers are getting fat, and soda is a main culprit. Soda is the Chicago of beverages killing people at an alarming rate. Did you know, soda contains too much acid that it can be usde to strip the paint off of cars? Soda can also dissolve a tooth overnight and makes women suffer more severe PMS symptoms and that’s not good for anybody!

While I totally agree with the soda ban, I don’t think soda is fully to blame for the obesity problem in America. Sure, forcing people not to scarf down gallons of cola isn’t the answer but it’s a step in the right direction. People have shown that they are not willing to save themselves from death by flab.

Plus, in the hustle and bustle of every day life, it is very hard to find the time to work out. So kudos to New York for placing a ban on soda, but we cannot and should not stop there.

We must change the way we think as a culture, and having the option to drink a small lake of sugar is not healthy and should be illegal. So think before you order a drink eight times the recommended size. I want to live in a healthy world, a world where adults don’t have diabetes and get their legs cut off. I want to live in a healthier America. Soda is killing people like we’re in Chicago and it’s time someone took a stance. I love this ban and you should too.
