As we all already know, Republicans and Democrats are split on almost all topics — including music.

Brian Whitman, the CTO of a music analysis firm called Echo Nest, recently did a study looking at the musical tastes of Republicans and Democrats.
His results are interesting, though, when you think about it, not very surprising.
Whitman, using data called “taste profile,” the same information Spotify and MOG uses, claims that Dems have musical tastes that are 40 percent broader than Republicans.

Using the data, Whitman was also able to determine which artists party members generally liked the most. For Republicans it’s:
1. Kenny Chesney
2. George Strait
3. Reba McEntire
4. Tim McGraw
5. Jason Aldean
6. Blake Shelton
7. Shania Twain
8. Kelly Clarkson
9. Pink Floyd
10. Elvis Presley
And then, for Democrats, the list reads out like this:
1. Rihanna
2. Jay-Z
3. Madonna
4. Lady Gaga
5. Katy Perry
6. Snoop Dogg
7. Chris Brown
8. Usher
9. Eminem
10. Bob Marley
Interestingly, heavy metal fans can be found in both parties, pretty evenly.
