Christian Bale, star of Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, is in town visiting victims of the Aurora movie theater shooting.

According to the Denver Post, an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Brothers corporate communications said:

“Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers.”

A hospital worker named Amanda tweeted a picture of the Academy Award winning actor, who plays Batman himself, walking through the hallways and talking to hospital staff.

Bale’s film was playing in the Century 16 theater in Aurora, CO when suspected gunman James Holmes opened fire on the crowd, killing 12 people and injuring 58 others.

Bale also stopped and snapped a quick photo with victim Carey Rottman. This is Bale’s first public appearance since the incident.

We admire his willingness to put himself out there and attempt to provide some small comfort to the victims and their families.
