**UPDATE**

Garrett Reid was on hand at Lehigh University where the Eagles are currently in training camp to assist the players and his father with training. Garrett was particularly on hand to assist the strength coaches. 

News of his death broke early this morning before Eagles practice, which Coach Reid insisted go forward in his absence.

Here is how the news was broken to the team by Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, as reported by USA Today:

“I have some heartbreaking news to share with you all,” Roseman said, “It is with great sadness that I tell you Garrett Reid, the oldest son of Coach Reid, was found dead this morning in his room here at training camp. This is a tough morning for all us.”

“He’s been strong for us, we’re going to be strong for him right now,” Roseman said of coach Andy Reid, according to Pro Football Talk.

Edward Schupp, Chief of Police at Lehigh, said a 911 call was made at 7:20 a.m. Schupp said Garrett Reid was deceased upon a policeman’s arrival at the campus dormitory.

“Upon arrival attempts were made to revive the individual,” Shupp said, according to “They were unsuccessful. … There were no suspicious activities.”

Players gathered for a team prayer before the walkthrough began, and were told not to speak to reporters afterward.

Earlier this morning news surfaced that the son of Philadelphia Eagles football coach Andy Reid, Garret Reid, was found dead early this morning. 

Garrett, Andy’s eldest son was found unresponsive a dorm at Lehigh University where the Eagles are currently in training camp. Garrett was on hand to assit the strength coaches. 

As reported by TMZ

The Lehigh University Chief of Police confirmed that Garrett Reid was found dead at Eagles training camp after a 911 call was placed at 7:20 AM ET. Reid was in camp assisting strength coaches.

Police said that at this point there is no evidence of foul play and the coroner’s office said that an investigation is ongoing.

Eagles GM Howie Roseman announced the news to the press this morning, saying of Reid, “He’s been strong for us, we’re going to be strong for him right now.”

Reid had a troubled past which included multiple drug-related arrests.
