How can you define what love is?  Does it have a look? Do you have to be a certain color? Have a certain belief? Have the same religion?….What about being the same sex?

This is a subject that I am passionate about because I have always been sort of an outcast in the fact that I never really go with the flow or mold to what people want me to be. I have dated very different people all my life. Black, white, Spanish, Jewish, Muslim…and yes, I even tried dating a girl.  My best friend is gay and has been a better friend to me than most of my straight ones. Why should we punish people for being true to themselves? Its like telling John Mayer to sing ‘Hit me baby one more time.’ It just doesn’t work if its not real. What’s so beautiful about giving different people a chance is that you fall in love with their differences and see that beauty exists everywhere. In mocha colored skin, freckles, blue eyes, curly hair or straight hair, girl…or boy. Its interesting to hear where people have been in their lives, their reasons for being who they are today, and hearing their beliefs and dreams.  It really improves YOUR life by filling it with …well…LIFE!

Banning gay marriage is as stupid as saying you have to be skinny to be pretty, or only whites can marry whites and black people can only marry black people. Jewish people should marry Jewish people and Catholic people should marry other Catholics. We are worrying about preventing LOVE. When we really have much bigger fish to fry….

There are so many issues that carry much discrimination, and this is one of them. We are so stuck on this ‘traditional institution’ that we are losing sight of how silly we really sound. Slavery was once viewed as a ‘traditional institution,’ but by the 19th century we realized how terrible and evil that institution was and have massively
abolished it.

Some argue that marriage was meant for procreation. First of all, we are over populated with people as it is, and there are already tons of starving and family-less kids right here in our own country as well as other countries. Don’t you think if a gay couple wanted to have children they might help us with adopting kids in need??….. How about we count the amount of people who get married and never want children…or the people who are physically incapable of having children? Should we rip their wedding rings off their hands because they didn’t make babies? Its silly. If there was a law forcing everyone to have children, and on top of that, by our own flesh and blood, then I could see how gay marriage wouldn’t really work, but NO ONE is being forced to do this and neither should they.

Some say it’s against certain religions. Although I am a devout Christian, we also have to remember the bible was passed from person to person and in reality the only law we should be living by is what Jesus would do. Would he picket outside of a courthouse and curse the gays? Would he not hug them and love them for who they are? Would he forgive them if it really WAS wrong? Jesus only dealt from love and
compassion and would surely not treat anyone unfairly or unkind. Lets not forget life on this Earth isn’t even the main goal here…we will all be judged by God after this life…so lets leave that up to HIM.

There’s also another issue people are fretting over. They think a gay union isn’t the best envir
