We had the opportunity to ask newly signed hip-hop artist Mickey Factz a few questions.  The Bronx, NY native talks with us about his passion for music and the hustle that lead him to sign a major deal with Warner Bros. Music. Without further ado here is the interview:

Can you tell us a little background about yourself and when you first got the rapping bug? My name is Mickey Factz and I grew up in the Bronx, NY . I went to NYU to study law along with nurturing my passion for Hip Hop. I first got the rapping bug back in high school. It overcame me..

Who are some of your musical influences? Michael Jackson, James Brown, Biggie Smalls, Big Pun, Big Daddy Kane, John P Kee…. and on and on…I like a wide range of music.

Can you describe your music and style for us? What’s unique about Mickey Factz? Mickey Factz is the epitome of fun and energy. He’s the life of the party as well as just a lyricist at heart. What makes Mickey unique is the fact that by looking at him you wouldn’t think he could do the things he is able to do. But some of the best surprises are like that.

When you sit down to write a song, what is your method? I live with the beat for a couple of days before I begin to paint my song. Everything is carefully thought and mapped out. Don’t want to make the song too intricate that I lose the listener but I also don’t like to make it too simple for those to follow. Its a balance that has to come across.

Do you think your e-hustle is as important as your street hustle? How so? Every hustle needs to be as important as your street hustle. There is an avenue in every lane that must be tackled. My E-hustle is unparalleled. If you wanna make it, you gotta go hard.

For you, what do you think the key to longevity in the Hip-Hop industry entails? It’s making quality music and staying true to yourself, while reinventing. If you can do that, you’ll be fine.

What are your thoughts on the current state of Hip-Hop? Truthfully, I love it. It couldn’t be better. We are at a place where we are evolving. I’m enjoying every minute of it.

What can we look forward to from you in 2010 and beyond? You can look for me to create great music on a consistent basis from Mickey Factz as well as hard work and dedication. The mixtape is coming,  it’s called “I’m Better Than You” and the album “The Achievement,” should arrive at the top of next year.

Is there anything else you want your fans and stupidDOPE readers to know? If you’re breathing, I do this for you!
