Chevonne Thomas, 33, of New Jersey killed herself after she decapitated her 2-year-old son and put his head in a freezer.

According to MyFox Philly, officers responded to a report of dispute at the home in Camden early Wednesday, saying that Thomas, who had a history of mental problems, had barricaded herself inside after arguing with a man believed to be her boyfriend.
Officers gained entry to the home and found the woman dead, with a neck wound, and the child’s head inside a refrigerator.

The son was Zahree Thomas. The mother reportedly has an older child who was not home at the time of the incident.
Prosecutors say Thomas had lost custody of Zahree Thomas in 2010 when she allegedly left the boy unattended in a car. At the time authorities say she admitted having smoked marijuana laced with PCP and blacking out in a park.
Authorities say Thomas apparently decapitated Zahree Thomas and put his head in the freezer of their Camden home before calling 911 just after midnight Tuesday. They say she stabbed herself in the neck while police were outside.
Prosecutors say during the 911 call she first accused her boyfriend of stabbing her child, then admitted “I did it.”
Zahree’s father arrived at the scene shortly before 7 a.m., just before medical examiners brought the mother’s and child’s bodies out of the apartment.
