Mitt Romney revealed the deeper reason as to why he refuses to release more than 2 years of tax returns.

He previously stated that he did not want the Obama administration to have ammunition against him, but according to Parade Magazine he is now saying that he does not want his donation amount to a Mormon church to be revealed.

He told the magazine:

“Our church doesn’t publish how much people have given,’ he said. ‘This is done entirely privately. One of the downsides of releasing one’s financial information is that this is now all public, but we had never intended our contributions to be known.”

He continued:

“It’s a very personal thing between ourselves and our commitment to our God and to our church.”

His wife also said how she feels when she donates to the church:

“I love tithing. When Mitt and I give that check, I actually cry. I know this money is an indication of how much we trust God and love the principle of sacrifice.”

Next week, Romney is set to talk about his Mormon religious at a republican convention in Tampa.
