Four Delaware County girls from Chester, PA will be charged as adults, after they brutally attacked a defenseless woman while she was sitting in front of her home.

The four teen girls, including two sisters, will be charged today as adults in the attack of a 48-year-old mentally challenged woman, which they recorded on video and posted on Facebook, city and county authorities said Thursday night.

As reported by DailyTimes:

Three of the girls, two age 16 and one 15, were being detained Thursday night in the city lockup, as investigators continued looking for three female accomplices in the attack on Morton Avenue Tuesday that occurred, based on surveillance video obtained by police, between about 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., Commissioner Joseph Bail Jr. said. A fourth was in custody Friday morning.

Though authorities believe they know the identities of the wanted girls, they are still asking anyone with information to come forward.

Calling it “one of the more horrific, savage attacks” he’s seen in 40 years of police work, Bail said at an afternoon press conference that the crime appeared random, “without rhyme or reason.”

According to Bail, the victim told investigators she gave the girls candy or bubble gum just before they turned on her.

As word of the police investigation began to spread Thursday, one of the teens surrendered at police headquarters, accompanied by her mother. The other two were apprehended by police, Bail said.

Thursday afternoon, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan said his office would be prosecuting the teens in custody as adults.

“We are going to aggressively prosecute each of them for their callous indifference to this woman,” Whelan said.

After the girls beat the woman in the attack, they posted the video, which is graphic and laced with obscenities, on Facebook.

In the video, we see the group of girls gathered on a sidewalk about 30 feet from the victim. The teens can be heard rapping, laughing and planning their attack.

Seconds later, the six girls swarm in on the woman, punching, kicking and then picking up chairs and other makeshift weapons as they pounce.

“Get off of me,” the victim screamed as the girls pushed and dragged her inside the first-floor apartment in the 1100 block of Morton Avenue, cornering her on a couch.

They mocked the woman and beat her as she tried, unsuccessfully, to defend herself.

One of the teens recorded the entire incident on her cell phone and later posted it on Facebook.

Police learned of the incident when a parent of a local teenager saw the video on Facebook and called the police department’s juvenile division, about 9 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities say the suspects, who bragged to their friends about what they had done, posted the video on the social networking site.

Where do we begin with this case? Why are many of these young girls so out of control today?
