Flip-floppin’ Mitt is back at it again, this time on the issue of abortion!

STORY: Silence The Bullets In Chicago by Michael Skolnik

When Mitt Romney ran for Governor in Massachusetts, he proudly stood up for a woman’s right to choose and presented himself as pro-choice candidate.

Fast-forward a few years later, and now the Republican contender is a pro-life advocate that has even threatened the Roe vs. Wade abortion rights case during his campaign for president.

But on Tuesday, it seems like Mitt got caught up in a battle between his two political personalities – the conservative Mitt vs. the moderate Mitt – and backtracked on his conservative stance on abortion.

During a sit-down interview with a newspaper in Iowa, the Des Moines Register, the Republican presidential hopeful wiggled toward the center and told reporters that he doesn’t plan to fight against abortion if he becomes president.

“There’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda.”

Within hours, the Romney campaign released a statement confirming that he was indeed a “pro-life” candidate, despite his own remark.

On Wednesday, Mitt was forced to defend his pro-life position and told reporters in Ohio:

“I think I’ve said time and again, I’m a pro-life candidate. I’ll be a pro-life president. The actions I’ll take immediately are to remove funding for Planned Parenthood. It will not be part of my budget.”

In response, President Obama lashed out on Mitt’s flip-flopping abortion comments during an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer last night:

“This is another example of Governor Romney hiding positions he’s been campaigning on for a year and a half.”

Obama then answered whether he thought Romney was lying when he said he wouldn’t restrict abortion.

“No, I actually think … when it comes to women’s rights to control their own health care decisions, you know, what he has been saying is exactly what he believes. He thinks that it is appropriate for politicians to inject themselves in those decisions.”

Mitt Romney has proven time and time again that he is a chronic flip-flopper and will say next to anything to pander to a particular base. He simply can’t be trusted!
