President Obama shut it down last night at the third and final presidential debate, which focused on foreign policy, in a clear victory over his Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

The wealthy business man and GOP nominee stuck to his talking points and frequently derailed the discussion to talk about domestic issues like the economy and jobs, but he still couldn’t measure up to the President’s achievements on foreign affairs and expertise on foreign relations.

Obama took the time to school Romney on the way things work overseas and how to protect the country, and did a great job showing that Romney’s strategies would not lead America forward. Though we predicted that Romney couldn’t hold a candle to Obama on foreign policy, watching it all go down just proved what we knew from the beginning—that Mitt Romney is unqualified to be commander-in-chief. Period.

Obama struck his opponent down on a number of issues. Here’s a recap of the one-liners and zingers that ultimately sunk Mitt’s battleship.

“We also have fewer horses and bayonets.”

The number one zinger of the night came from Obama, when Romney criticized his administration for reducing military spending and the number of navy ships. That’s when Obama struck back, stating:

“You mention the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets,” Obama said during the final presidential debate. “We have these things called aircraft carriers and planes land on them. We have these ships that go underwater, nuclear submarines. It’s not a game of battleship where we’re counting ships.”

“The 1980s are calling to have their foreign policy back.”

Obama scolded Romney for making the assertion that Russia is America’s “number one geopolitical foe” back in March, reminding him that the Cold War ended decades ago.

“You seem to want to import the foreign policies of the 1980s” (see video above)

In that same moment, Obama delivered back-to-back zingers, following up by listing past decades from which Romney’s policies seem to derive:

“Governor, when it comes to your foreign policy, you seem to want to import the foreign policies of the 1980s, just like the social policies of the 1950s and the economic policies of the 1920s.”

You’re “all over the map.”

Obama made sure to highlight the contradictory statements that Romney has retorted during his campaign, such as agreeing with the President’s troop withdrawal in Afghanistan, while criticizing it at the same time.

“Governor Romney, I’m glad you agree that we have been successful in going after al-Qaeda, but I have to tell you that your strategy … has been one that has been all over the map, and is one that is not designed to keep Americans safe,” Obama said.

“Every time you’ve offered an opinion, you’ve been wrong.” (see video above min. 7:40)

During the first topic of the debate on the US attacks on Libya, Romney listed a number of foreign policy failures since the US attacks in the Middle East in September, saying, “What we’re seeing is a pretty dramatic reversal in the kind of hopes we had for that region.”

In response, Obama retorted by pointing out Romney’s flawed record and theories on foreign policy affairs.

Stop trying to “airbrush history.”

In a heated exchange over verbatim, the President and the Governor went back and forth over the op-ed that Romney wrote entitled, “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.” Romney claimed that he offered the auto industry government help and government guarantees, “but they need to go through bankruptcy to get rid of excess cost and the debt burden that they’d built up.” That’s when Obama stepped up and pointed out that Romney said nothing of that nature and objected government guarantees, in effect he was trying to rewrite the truth.

“We’ve visited the website quite a bit. And it still doesn’t work.”

During the debate, Romney prompted viewers to visit his website to see how he plans to reduce spending as president despite his $5 trillion tax cut. “Come on our website, you’ll look at how we get to a balanced budget within eight to 10 years. We do it by getting — by reducing spending in a whole series of programs,” said the former governor.

It turns out that Obama had visited Romney’s website and still could not find accurate answers, so the POTUS retorted: “And you know, we’ve visited the website quite a bit. And it still doesn’t work.”

Obama took home 2 out of 3 of the presidential debates, now we’ll see how he’ll do on Election Day!
