Kevin Krim, 37, the NBC executive and the heartbroken father of two young kids allegedly butchered by their nanny, tells friends that his family will persevere after this senseless tragedy.

According to People Magazine, Krim texted friends:

“Thanks for your concern, Nessie woke up this morning and is doing fine. We’re obviously heartbroken” one day after his children Lucia, 6, and Leo, 2, were stabbed to death inside his home Thursday afternoon.

Krim’s wife, Marina, and the surviving daughter found a bloody scene, when they walked into the family’s Upper West Side apartment Thursday: Lucia and Leo motionless in a blood-soaked bathtub.

The family’s nanny, Yoselyn Ortega, 50, then began manically stabbing herself in the neck with a kitchen knife.

Handcuffed to a hospital bed, Ortega woke up yesterday and asked about her own family.

Ortega has since undergone surgery and is “talking a little,” according to a source.

As reported by the New York Post:

Investigators returned yesterday to Ortega’s New York Hospital bedside in a bid to learn what sparked the horrific slayings of the Krim siblings, sources said.

Ortega has lawyered up and won’t answer questions, said one source. She did speak to her doctor and “asked about her family,” the source said.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ortega remained intubated yesterday.

Ortega shares a Harlem apartment with her sister, her niece and Ortega’s 17-year-old son, Jesus, who recently moved from their native Dominican Republic and attends a Bronx high school.

Friends of the family have been voicing their heartache and offered prayers and condolences on Facebook, where several relatives have posted tribute photos of the children while leaving flowers and cards in front of their Upper West Side apartment building.
